vBulletin Setup

  • Requirements
  • Provider
  • Deployment

Figuring out all the requirements is difficult for many individuals who barely know how to install vBulletin but cannot predict or anticipate the necessary needs months or years from now.

Is your database server configured properly and using the necessary adjustments to run efficiently or is the person you hired using the default settings for the database configuration file?

Is the provider you going with capable of handling your support requests and can handle the amount of visitors to your vBulletin forum? Do you know the questions you need to ask your provider? If not, you’re going to be stuck going for the cheapest provider and will waste more money by having your cheap account upgraded, which often costs more, than investing in a server that may run “too fast” for a month or two.

Do you or your “consultant” know about service license agreements (SLA’s) that you can get with hosting providers?

Finally – deployment. Is your consultant using the best, most updated webservers or a webserver meant to run on a cluster, which costs unpredictably more? Does your consultant have websites of their vBulletin customers that they can show you? I can and all my customers have legitimate licenses.

Consulting

  • Upgrades
  • Addon installation
  • Advertising
  • Security

I can handle upgrading you to the latest version of vBulletin, which keeps your website safe from security breaches. If you are running an older version of vBulletin or an illegal, pirated version where you are unable to upgrade to the latest version – you will be compromised by computer hackers.

I am familiar with a variety of vBulletin addons and I’m able to install them on your forum for you. vBulletin addons increase the functionality of your forum and make sure users keep coming back.

Not sure how to make money with advertising but have a popular forum? Sit down for a discussion with me about advertising options! If you have hundreds, if not thousands, of users and on average hundreds of users visiting the site, why aren’t you making money with your vBulletin forum?

Security – I know how to keep your vBulletin forum secure. Need to hire a part time vBulletin system administrator? I can handle the job if you would rather spend more time moderating your forum.

Optimization

  • Make vBulletin run very fast

I know how to make vBulletin run very quickly on large forums, but it takes some investment that could be paid with advertising. There is no magic bullet or magical setting to make your cheap vBulletin hosting solution handle hundreds and thousands of users on your forum.

You have to invest money to make money with vBulletin. The administrators who chase after keeping costs incredibly cheap often fall for cheap providers who go out of business or lose data, while the providers which are a little bit more than “cheap” are way more reliable.

The biggest requirement for a vBulletin forum is bandwidth and if you are dealing with 10Mbps or shared 100Mbps, your forum may not be fast enough for your needs. Send me a message – I can show you how a fast forum is supposed to look.

vBulletin System Administrator

My average rate for system administrator related tasks for vBulletin is $50 per hour, minimum 2 hours. This includes webserver software, PHP, MySQL, and any requirements for webserver, PHP, MySQL and vBulletin. I am available for short term, such as if you want to contract me out to finish tasks at a cheaper rate than $50 per hour, minimum two hours with what you specifically want and I will finish those tasks.

Long term system administration tasks are done by custom quote only with consideration taken into amount of users, amount of traffic and the direction of the forum. I can maintain the size and the operating standards of your forum or expand it to allow you to have more users on the forum.
